Some animals prefer to meet only during the mating season, and each time to choose a life partner again. Birds are especially famous for this quality: swans, pigeons, many eagles and other winged predators choose each other forever, and their faithfulness inspires poets and artists. What living creatures of the planet can be considered the most faithful, loyal to each other?
Gibbons
Long-armed monkeys who feel at home in the trees are not just distant relatives of humans. They also know how to create families that do not collapse for years. And they have something similar to gender equality. Females and males have approximately the same strength and weight, do not differ much, which allowed the formation of equal relations. Family responsibilities are divided in half.
Albatrosses
The large seabird albatross travels a lot, making flights over the waters over long distances. But fidelity is above all: each albatross returns home, to his native nest, and finds his chosen life partner to take out the chicks when the right season arrives. The bird finds a life partner in the first years after hatching, and then remains faithful to life. They even dance together!
Termites
Bees and ants do not have the concept of marital fidelity; they have a queen. But the heads of the termite kingdom are monogamous - the female and male individuals exist all their lives together, creating their own state from many insects. In their colonies there is one queen and one king.
Voles are steppe
Most rodents do not seek monogamy, but field voles are the exception. In most cases, they prefer to create a strong family forever, and violation of this unwritten rule is rare for them. Moreover: a pair of voles has a very close relationship, they look after not only the offspring, but also one after another, there is a separation of duties. Their behavior in pairs is so complex that they consider him a model of the human family in the animal kingdom.
Swans
Swan pairs are stable, they form for years to come, monogamous life is not broken - exceptions are extremely rare. A pair of swans willingly spends time together, they communicate, touch each other. Snow-white plumage, beautiful slender necks that a couple can bend almost in the shape of a heart, have long become symbols of love in poetry and art.
Doves
Another symbol of eternal love, praised by Shakespeare - these are pigeons. They also acquire permanent couples, maintaining loyalty for life. Together they build a nest and live in it, acquiring offspring, sharing care for the chicks.
Wolves
These predators behave extremely noble, choosing their life partner forever. A pack of wolves is a group of animals of different statuses - the hierarchy of wolves is complex. A pair of wolves is usually formed within the same caste, the female and the male have the same status.
Even if the wolf pack breaks down for a while, the pair will still then reunite. In the mating season, which wolves have for the winter, animals will appear in previously created pairs, and young individuals will search for life companions.
Wolves jointly take care of offspring - the whole flock, and not just the parental couple, can participate in this.If the parents go hunting, for example, another female may remain with the wolf cubs. After all, the responsibilities of forest predators are not only to each other in pairs, but also to the pack.
Thus, not only some animals, but also birds, and even insects can retain marital fidelity. Choosing a life partner is not just beautiful and romantic. Such an approach gives more chances for survival for both the parents themselves and their offspring, so monogamy as a form of pair existence did not appear by chance.
